What are Shapes & Colors?

Shapes are figures like circle, square, and triangle. Colors are words like red, blue, and green. We learn to see, name, and count shapes, and to match them with colors.

Circle — red
Square — blue
Triangle — green
Tip: Point and name shapes aloud or use sign language while the child looks.

1. What shape is this? What color?

Answer: Circle — Red
Explanation: A circle has no corners — smooth round edge. The color is red.

2. How many blue squares are there?

Answer: 3 blue squares.
Explanation: Count each square: 1, 2, 3. All are blue.

3. Which is bigger — the green triangle or the small triangle?

Answer: The left triangle is bigger.
Explanation: Look at size — the left triangle takes more space. We say it is bigger.

4. Name the shape and color: a long rectangle that is yellow.

Answer: Rectangle — Yellow.
Explanation: A rectangle has 4 sides with opposite sides equal. The color is yellow.

5. How many red hearts are there?

Answer: 2 red hearts.
Explanation: Count the heart shapes: 1, 2. Both are red.

6. Which shapes are blue?

Answer: Square and star are blue.
Explanation: Find shapes with blue color. The square and the star are blue.

7. Count the orange circles.

Answer: 4 orange circles.
Explanation: Count each orange circle: 1,2,3,4.

8. Which one is a yellow star?

Answer: The star shape filled with yellow is the yellow star.
Explanation: Look for the star outline and yellow fill — that’s the yellow star.

9. Match: Red = ?, Blue = ? (Choose shape names shown)

Answer: Red = Circle, Blue = Square.
Explanation: Match color to the shown shape: the red shape is a circle, the blue shape is a square.

10. Which two shapes are the same color (green)?

Answer: Triangle and oval are both green.
Explanation: Look at the fill color — both shapes use the same green color.
